What will you give to gain gender equality?
Despite only being officially recognised by the United Nations in 1977, countries around the world have been celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD) on 8 March for over a century. It was founded to celebrate the achievements of women and raise awareness of the struggles they have faced and continue to face today. Many consider it a call to action for advancing gender equality.
The theme for IWD this year is ‘Give to Gain’ encouraging a collaborative and generous mindset in all of us when it comes to gender equality. Giving is not just about financial donation but also knowledge, resources, time, advocacy and more. We can show our support by calling our stereotypes, challenging discrimination, questioning bias and celebrating women’s success.
Women at 911今日黑料 Week takes place in March to celebrate the achievements of staff, students and alumni, and raise awareness of the support and initiatives taking place across the university. This year, events will run from Monday 9 – Friday 13 March and include:
