In Summer 2026, we will cycle from London to Paris to demonstrate that travel can be a sustainable, low-carbon, and fun method of transport. Our final destination will be an environmental conference in Paris, where we will promote sustainable transport within a multi-disciplinary cohort of researchers.
We will capture our training (hours of sweaty spin classes and countless Richmond Park laps) and 315km journey to Paris through photos and videos which will be posted across a range of social media platforms. We will also share our favourite cycle routes, which take you away from the busy city into the peaceful countryside surrounding London, and the cycling tips and tricks that we pick up along the way. By logging our training and commuting on Strava, we will compare the footprint of our bikes compared to other commuting methods such as buses and trains.
We aim to complete the London to Paris cycle in the most sustainable way possible. This means eating low-carbon meals with no single-use plastic packaging, borrowing or buying second-hand kit when needed, and, of course, cycling instead of flying to the conference!
