Professor Bialek invited to give a keynote address at the Electricity Security Task Force of the International Energy Agency on 7th May 2026 in Paris.
Professor Bialek was invited to give a keynote address "Challenges of the transition from synchronous machine-based to power electronics-based power systems" at a meeting of the Electricity Security Task Force of the International Energy Agency on 7th May 2026 in Paris. The meeting was attended by around 30 delegates with another 10-20 remotely.
Power systems are currently in a transition period due to increased penetration of wind, solar PV and batteries. Electricity Security Task Force of IEA tries to develop a framework to identify and understand the new risks and vulnerabilities. My task was to help them understand the technical challenges emerging during the transition period.
