Dr Nausheen Basha, Research Associate in the Department of Chemical Engineering, received the AI Champion Award at the 2026 everywoman in Technology Awards, in recognition of translating advanced research into impact and advocating for inclusive leadership.
Dr Basha’s research focuses on machine learning for engineering systems, combining computational fluid dynamics, optimisation, and advanced manufacturing to accelerate the design of next-generation chemical technologies that include sustainable chemical and pharmaceutical reactors.
She aims to establish her methods as a 'computational co-scientist', enabling faster and more efficient engineering design of chemical technologies.

On winning the , Dr Basha said: "I'm honoured to receive this recognition, and it feels particularly timely as I begin a new chapter as Lecturer in AI and Digital Manufacturing at the University of Manchester.
