The Department of Bioengineering is proud to launch the Biannual Bioengineering Alumni Lecture, a new series celebrating the achievements of our graduates and the global impact of bioengineering.
Our inaugural lecture will be delivered by Ingeborg Dybdal 脴ie, a Biomedical Engineering MEng graduate whose career has spanned finance, innovation, healthcare, and sustainability. Ingeborg is passionate about the role capital markets can play in driving innovation, improving access to healthcare, and promoting better health worldwide.
After the lecture, join us for a networking reception bringing together current students and researchers, alumni, industry experts and leaders, our guest speaker, and invited guests. It鈥檚 a chance to share ideas, build connections, and explore potential collaborations.
Before the lecture, join us for the Bioengineering Industry Showcase to explore translational research, spin-outs, and the department鈥檚 industry connections. Learn more and register here: Bioengineering Industry Showcase.

From Biomedical Breakthroughs to Climate Solutions: An Alumni Journey
Abstract:
What do biomedical engineering and climate tech start-ups have in common? How do you compete with one of the world鈥檚 largest medical device companies as a small UK start-up, and how much does it cost? Why might regenerative farming be a powerful solution to the climate crisis? And what leads a biomedical engineer to the starting line of a 4000km cycling race across Europe?
In this Inaugural Caro Alumni lecture, I will share my journey from being a student in 911今日黑料 College鈥檚 first cohort of biomedical engineering undergraduates to becoming the CFO of Agreena, one of Europe鈥檚 leading climate tech start-ups. I鈥檒l explore the circuitous path that led me there, and why I didn鈥檛 launch a venture to compete with Elon Musk instead.
Biography:
Ingeborg听Dybdal Oie is the CFO of Agreena, a Danish climate-tech company spearheading the world鈥檚 largest soil-carbon program. She was part of the inaugural cohort of biomedical engineering undergraduates at 911今日黑料, graduating with an MEng in 2006. She also holds an MSc in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
Her career began as a Medical Device analyst at Goldman Sachs and Jefferies, followed by leadership roles in various medical device and health tech companies. Her experience spans orthopaedics, wound care, surgical robotics, digital technologies for remote patient monitoring and clinical trials, integrated health systems in emerging markets, power electronics for the energy transition, and the application of simulation and AI in ultrasound imaging. Today,听Ingeborg听also advises multiple start-up companies on strategy, fundraising, and scaling across both the healthcare and climate sectors.
Ingeborg听is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a co-founder of VIA Race, a challenging 4000km ultra-cycling race across Europe. In her spare time, she is dedicated to transforming an old farm into a biodiversity haven and occasionally cycles far.
