    Co-Director of ICEB

    Department of Chemical Engineering

Prof Polizzi's applies engineering biology approaches to biological manufacturing.

  • Tom Ellis

    Personal details

    Co-Director of ICEB

    Department of Bioengineering

Prof Ellis's  develops tools and technologies for synthetic genome engineering and programmable biological materials.

  • Claudia Contini

    Personal details

    ICEB Board Member

    Affiliations

Claudia's explores how molecules, macromolecules, vesicles, and both biological and synthetic components can be combined to create life-like behaviours and bio-inspired biotechnologies. Using a bottom-up approach, they design synthetic cells and minimal systems that mimic biological complexity.

  • David Riglar

    Personal details

    ICEB Board Member

    Affiliations

The uses a combination of synthetic biology, imaging and sequencing based approaches to better understand the function of the gut and its microbiota during health and disease.

  • Francesca Ceroni

    Personal details

    ICEB Board Member

    Department of Chemical Engineering

Francesca Ceroni's group applies Engineering Biology principles to mammalian cell engineering for bioprocessing and cell therapy.
  • James Murray

    ICEB Board Member

    Department of Life Sciences

James Murray's  works on synthetic biology in cyanobacteria and protein design.

  • Jose Jimenez Zarco

    Personal details

    ICEB Board Member

    Affiliations

Research in the focuses on a number of topics at the interphase between synthetic biology and evolution. They are interested in understanding how evolution shapes the properties of proteins exhibiting quantum mechanisms in vivo, in the tradeoffs governing gene expression and in the dynamics of complex microbial communities.

  • Mark Isalan

    Personal details

    ICEB Board Member

    Department of Life Sciences

Mark Isalan's works in protein engineering, gene network engineering and synthetic gene therapy.

  • Ravinash Krishna Kumar

    Personal details

    ICEB Board Member

    Affiliations

Ravinash's uses 3D printing and fluidic technologies to build new microbiome models for understanding host-microbial community relationships, synthetic tissues for controlling living tissues and new engineered living materials.

  • Rodrigo Ledesma Amaro

    Personal details

    ICEB Board Member

    Department of Bioengineering
