Organisms can capture and store carbon away from the atmosphere, or accelerate natural processes that slow rates of global warming. To help mitigate against climate change, scientists, industry, NGOs and policy makers are exploring ways to manipulate nature to try to store more carbon through various so-called Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) techniques. Here at Silwood, researchers are working fast to understand how nature cycles carbon, and if it is possible to manipulate nature to reduce atmospheric CO2 levels.
