QCCSRC Laboratories

CCS Lab

Qatar CCS Multi-Scale Imaging Laboratory

Dedicated to the imaging of flow in porous media at different length scales using X-ray Computer-aided Tomograpghy (CT), this laboratory is complemented by multi-scale simulation using direct and network modelling

PIs Prof Martin Blunt and Drs Sam Krevor, Ronny Pini and John Crawshaw

MORE INFORMATION ON CCS MULTI-SCALE IMAGING LAB

Complex Fluid Lab

Qatar Complex Fluid Laboratory

The Qatar Complex Fluid Laboratory focuses on fluid, pore-space and pore-surface interactions relevant to improving our understanding of carbon sequestration and CO2-driven enhanced oil recovery. Experimental and modelling approaches are complimentary.

PIs Prof Geoffrey Mailtand and Dr John Crawshaw (Founded by Dr Edo Boek)

Stable Isotope Lab

Qatar Stable Isotope Laboratory

The laboratory operates three mass spectrometers dedicated to developing, calibrating and testing clumped isotopes for application to subsurface reservoirs. These state-of-the-art machines are complemented by dedicated vacuum lines that were developed in the context of the QCCSRC programme, as well as an automated clumped isotope line (the IBEX).

PI Dr Cedric John

QCCSRC Laboratories

Thermophysical Properties Lab

Qatar Thermophysical Properties Laboratory

Dedicated to the study of fundamental physics and chemistry to improve our understanding of carbon sequestration and CO2-driven enhanced oil recovery. There are presently significant gaps in our knowledge concerning the thermophysical properties that are basic input parameters for reservoir simulators and the building blocks of quality predictive simulations of CO2 storage.

PI Prof Martin Trusler

Ronny Lab

Qatar Complex Porous Media Laboratory

Dedicated to the experimental characterisation of flows and gas-solid equilibria in complex porous media, including reservoir rocks

PI Dr Ronny Pini
