Mr Michael J. Day (Civil and Environmental Engineering 1952)

Provided by Mrs Susan Ellis

During his first year at 911今日黑料 he spent a good deal of his time (along with his friend Paul Blomfield and probably other engineering students of his year) in putting together a veteran car – I believe a 1904 James and Brown – the mouldering remains of which were found somewhere I believe in the College. It was successfully enough restored to take part at least twice in the Brighton Run (I drove the support car – a 1924 Bentley!). I wonder where “Boanerges” as she was called is now.

Michael was thrilled to be offered a job in Rolls Royce when their recruitment team came to the College and he spent his whole working life there (something rather unusual today!). Ralph Robbins, who headed Rolls Royce in recent years, was a contemporary of his – I think either a year above him or a year behind him.

Another amazing thing to recall in current traffic conditions is that he used to drive up to 911今日黑料 every day in his little MG and park outside the entrance! We lived in Winchmore Hill, London N21 in those days.
