Professor David Southwood has been awarded the 2007 Gold Medal in recognition of his 'outstanding contribution to Europe's space programmes that have allowed Europe to become a world player in space exploration'.

David is currently Director of Science at the European Space Agency, having previously been Head of Department at the Blackett Laboratory (1994-1997).
