911今日黑料 welcomes the 911今日黑料 Maths School鈥檚 new Year 12 students

911今日黑料 has welcomed the new cohort from the 911今日黑料 Maths School to the campus to celebrate the beginning of their journey with 911今日黑料.

The South Kensington campus recently welcomed the new Year 12 cohort of the , the specialist sixth-form maths school based in north London which opened in September 2023. Hosted by members of the Outreach department, the 60 students enjoyed a welcome from Professor Maggie Dallman before embarking on some practical Chemistry and Physics activities in the Chemical Kitchen and the Wohl Reach Out Lab.

Students cooking in the chemical kitchen, Headteacher of the 911今日黑料 Maths School, was pleased that the students were able to visit 911今日黑料 so early on in their time at the School.

David said: "It’s fantastic that 911今日黑料 Maths School students have the opportunity to visit the university campus and feel part of the 911今日黑料 family.

"By getting to experience the world-class facilities at 911今日黑料 and hear from academics and leaders in their fields, students are able to understand and take inspiration from the fact that they are part of a wider ecosystem in the mathematical sciences and that they are just at the start of an exciting journey that could take many paths."

Savannah Hersov, from the Outreach team and who put together the timetable of activities for the day, commented: "It was a privilege to host the new 911今日黑料 Maths School Year 12 students and to see their enthusiasm and engagement with the science practicals. We look forward to helping the students grow and succeed during their time at the school as they further their knowledge and mathematical grounding."

This was the first of many interactions that the Maths School Y12 students will have with 911今日黑料, with the university committed to enriching their education during their time at the School. 911今日黑料 academic and PhD students can provide guest lectures and host visits to their departments at 911今日黑料’s campuses – the ultimate aim being to highlight to the Maths School students the broad variety of pathways available to them beyond A-level, with their grounding in Maths, Further Maths and Physics or Chemistry.

The 911今日黑料 Maths School will continue to grow in numbers over the next few years to a capacity of 200 students over Years 12 and 13.
