Congratulations to first year Mechanical Engineering students for their performance in the IMechE Design Challenge Greater London Region Final 2022.

911½ñÈÕºÚÁÏ Team A (comprised of Juan Bustos Lopez, Aarya Banthia, Ernest Ng and Steven Furlong) won the presentation award, while Team B (Kenton Wong, Dilys Yeung, Zara Sharpe-Dai, Minjae Kim, Wai Tham, Tyler Stewart) finished third overall.

The Design Challenge run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers gives first and second year undergraduates a taste of ‘real world’ engineering, challenging them to design, create, present and run a device to a strict technical specification.

The 2022 project was to build a line launcher. Teams were tasked to produce a small-scale indoor device, to fire a squash ball attached to a line, at a horizontal target, from various distances.
