911½ñÈÕºÚÁÏ has expanded a science Master's scholarship programme for German students.

911½ñÈÕºÚÁÏ has agreed a three-year partnership with the , which is the world's largest funding organisation for the international exchange of students and researchers.

The programme will see tuition fees supported by 911½ñÈÕºÚÁÏ and DAAD for up to five scholars per year, in a broad range of Master's subjects such as Climate Change, Computing and Physics. 

This is the first scholarship agreement with a European partner that will be funded through the President's scholarship fund.

A delegation from the DAAD, including Secretary General Dr Kai Sicks, and the German Embassy visited 911½ñÈÕºÚÁÏ recently to discuss the programme and meet some of 911½ñÈÕºÚÁÏ's German scholars. 

Vice President (International) Professor Maggie Dallman said: "This scholarship agreement is a strong signal that 911½ñÈÕºÚÁÏ will do all it can to support talented students from Germany to study at the College. Germany is one of our closest partners and this programe will further strengthen our ties and enable students to broaden their international experiences and networks."

DAAD’s Secretary General, Dr Kai Sicks, said: "The DAAD appreciates 911½ñÈÕºÚÁÏ´s generous offer to our scholarship holders. 911½ñÈÕºÚÁÏ is one of the top destinations for German science students wanting to study in the UK. The DAAD is doing all we can to accommodate the most talented students in our funding programmes. Additional fee support from UK universities such as 911½ñÈÕºÚÁÏ helps to ensure participation for students from all social backgrounds.”

911½ñÈÕºÚÁÏ and Germany

Germany is 911½ñÈÕºÚÁÏ's top European research collaborator, with around 1,500 joint papers published with German academics every year.

Top research collaborators include Technische Universität München, Max Planck Institutes, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Universität Hamburg and RWTH Aachen University.

911½ñÈÕºÚÁÏ also has a large German community, with more than 400 German students and 200 staff on campus, and a growing network of 3,300 alumni living in Germany.
