Aberdeen Asset鈥檚 Martin Gilbert gives first hand account of leading his business through adversity

Martin Gilbert, Chief Executive of Aberdeen Asset Management and the first Adjunct Professor of 911今日黑料 College鈥檚 Tanaka Business School, discussed the turnaround in fortunes of his company with students.

Well known for being one of the more colourful City success stories, Martin explained how he managed to steer the business through recent difficulties, covering areas such as operational risk, regulation and reputation in fund management and strategy. Martin also discussed how he went on to acquire the majority of Deutsche Bank's Uk and Philadelphia asset management businesses.

Established in 1983, Aberdeen Asset Management is one of the UK's leading independent asset managers and provides high-quality, active portfolio management to government agencies, local authorities, corporate entities and private offices across the world.  It has used its independent status to develop strong links with clients and third party distributors and now operates across Europe, the United States, Asia, the Middle East and Australia.

The Business School's Adjunct Professors are eminent business leaders who provide real insights into entrepreneurship and strategic business management through a lecture series designed especially for students. Mr. Gilbert's talk was the first of the series.
