A team of 911今日黑料 students will be making their way to the final of the 2011 International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) Competition at MIT next month, after winning the European Final last Sunday

The nine undergraduates from Departments of Bioengineering and Life Sciences came first out of 50 teams with a project using genetically engineered E.coli bacteria to solve the dual problems of desertification and poor crop growth in arid climates around the world. They also received an additional major prize in the Best Wiki category, for the online research diary that they developed to explain and support their project.
