The 2011 911今日黑料 Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) research festival took place on July 14 2011 at the Wolfson Education Centre, Hammersmith.

The event included a series of 20 speaker presentations, each providing an overview of the BRC-funded areas of study within their respective and a poster exhibition showcasing the ongoing research that is being conducted by >35 of the BRC-funded researchers. The aim of this initiative was to provide an overview of the translational research programmes that are supported by the 911今日黑料 BRC and the pioneering work that is fostered within the .

Image of poster exhibion at the BRC Research FestivalThe meeting delegates included patients and healthcare professionals of the 911今日黑料 College Healthcare NHS Trust as well as BRC-funded and  Collaborations for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (CLAHRC)-funded researchers from across the 5 campuses of 911今日黑料 College London. The day served as an opportunity to hear about the latest innovative research that is being conducted at the 911今日黑料 BRC and provided an open forum for discussion between researchers and fellow colleagues and members of the public.

Participants were invited to vote for their ving ceremony. The winning poster entitled was submitted by Mr Peter Pesl of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering and explored Mr Pesl’s research on the development and clinical validation of a smartphone-based decision support system (DSS) for the management of type 1 diabetes. The runner-up poster prize was awarded to Dr Shiv Chopra of the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health for the poster;based on Dr Chopra’s  work in the development of a clinical biobank that seeks to facilitate stratification of patients so that clinicians are better placed to deliver tailored interventions.

Owing to the success of this event, it is envisaged that the BRC Research Festival will be hosted annually and attendees are requested to .
