The project is led by Professor Jason Hallett (Department of Chemical Engineering) and has a cross-faculty team of researchers with a broad range of expertise, including:

• polymer synthesis and catalysis
• chemical and biocatalytic recycling of polymers
• renewable composite design and engineering
• mechanical characterisation and micromechanical modelling of blends and composites
• optimization of adhesion and composites recycling
• plastic degradation in biological systems

and also diverse aspects of the circular economy, including:

• manufacturing and process development from waste design of sustainable materials, products and systems
• social and policy innovations needed to drive waste prevention.
