We are getting used to reading daily stories about how AI is impacting our lives. This practical course makes use of the capabilities of AI to help you to design, build and improve your own website using accessible AI tools.

Whether you are creating a personal website, blog, creative portfolio, or a site to support a small business or organisation, this beginner-friendly course will guide you through the main stages of website design. You will learn how to define the purpose of your website, think about your audience, plan your content, organise your pages, and develop a clear and effective site structure.

The course will also introduce you to ways in which AI can support website creation, including generating and improving written content, exploring design ideas, planning layouts, refining visual identity, and reviewing your site from the point of view of users. Alongside this, you will develop an understanding of how websites connect to the wider internet, including search engine optimisation, accessibility, user experience, images and media, and basic approaches to launching and promoting your site.

By the end of the course, you will have created a website or website prototype that you can continue to refine, publish and develop as your confidence grows.

You do not need any coding experience or advanced technical knowledge, although you should be comfortable using a computer and working online.

You will need to purchase a web hosting package if you do not already have one. This should cost around £50, depending on the specifications you need.
