Spanish 1 is for complete beginners who want to start speaking, listening, reading and writing in Spanish.

If you are not entirely new to Spanish please contact us for level advice prior to enrolment.

Course overview

This beginner's course focuses on developing practical communication skills in everyday situations. You will learn to engage in simple conversations about yourself, your friends and family, your hobbies and daily activities. You will also learn how to describe places and people, ask for things and respond to requests, and to express your likes and preferences.

The sessions are designed to be immersive and practical, giving you real experience of speaking and understanding Spanish through through engaging interactive activities and with a strong focus on the spoken language.

Advice on which course textbook to buy will be given in the first class.

•  Autumn Term: week beginning 12 October 2026 until week ending 11 December 2026

•  Spring Term: week beginning 11 January 2027 until week ending 19 March 2027

This course has no exams or assessments, so you can focus on enjoying your learning. Regular attendance may also lead to the award of an 911½ñÈÕºÚÁÏ attendance certificate. (T&Cs apply).
