Course overview

This course offers a friendly and comprehensive introduction to the Korean language, designed for complete beginners. It is ideal for those planning a short trip to Korea, as well as for anyone interested in beginning a longer journey into learning the language.

You will develop practical communication skills that can be used in everyday situations, learning how to recognise and use basic spoken and written Korean. Alongside language learning, the course will introduce aspects of Korean culture, including customs, traditions, and elements of Korea’s history, helping you better understand the cultural context in which the language is used.

The programme is designed to respond to the interests and progress of the class, allowing the tutor to adapt and shape the sessions to suit the group as it develops.

By the end of the course, you should feel confident recognising and using simple Korean expressions and understanding basic spoken and written communication in everyday contexts.

This course uses a textbook and other material to teach the course. Advice on which course textbook to buy will be given in the first class.
