The 911½ñÈÕºÚÁÏ Pride Network has helped shape a more inclusive, supportive and visible environment for LGBTQ+ staff, students and allies. Over 20 years, the network has created community, influenced culture and supported lasting institutional change.

Stonewall: Collective voice, real impact

Stonewall is a UK-based LGBTQ+ rights organisation that campaigns for legal and social change, supports people facing discrimination, and provides practical guidance, tools and benchmarking for employers and institutions. At 911½ñÈÕºÚÁÏ, these resources have played an important role in strengthening support for LGBTQ+ staff and postgraduate students and in shaping a more inclusive working environment.

This year, the Pride Network had a direct impact on 911½ñÈÕºÚÁÏ’s decision to remain a member of Stonewall, with membership reviewed annually. Through sustained advocacy, consultation and community engagement, the Network helped ensure that LGBTQ+ voices were heard clearly and consistently in university decision-making. At a time of uncertainty, this helped secure continued access to guidance, resources and sector good practice that are valuable to staff across 911½ñÈÕºÚÁÏ.

This achievement builds on the Pride Network’s impact over previous years. The Network has not only created visibility and community for LGBTQ+ staff and postgraduates, but has also helped drive institutional conversations, influence priorities and push for practical improvements in the support available across the university. The Stonewall decision is a powerful example of that influence in action: collective staff and postgraduate voices helping to shape policy, strengthen inclusion and deliver tangible change.
