Course overview

This course is designed to help you extend your existing knowledge of vocabulary and grammar in French, and includes regular practice in the four key skills - speaking, listening, reading and writing. The aim is to enable you to communicate in French with greater confidence, whilst also introducing more about life and culture in French-speaking countries.

We will explores topics such as shopping, ordering food, making arrangements for travel and holidays, talking about our bodies and health, giving and understanding directions, making requests, describing past experiences and making plans. Through these we will be introduced to grammatical structures including the simple past (passé composé), the near future (futur proche) tenses, the imperative mood, prepositions, direct object pronouns and the comparative form. These will help you develop real practical communication skills and enhance your ability to express yourself.

The sessions are designed to be engaging, progressive, and confidence-building, helping you to develop greater fluency and cultural awareness.

This course uses a textbook and other material to teach the course. Advice on which course textbook to buy will be given in the first class.
